My husband, David, and I fell in love with coffee, food, and the idea that a café could be so much more than a place to grab a drink. We wanted to build something that truly reflected who we were. In 2016, we opened Petrichor with a simple vision: to bring the vibrant flavours, warmth, and hospitality of Colombia and Latin America to Brisbane.

Every dish on the menu, every cup of coffee, and every detail of the café was created with love and with our community in mind.

Like many small businesses, our journey wasn't always easy. We navigated the challenges of running a growing business, made it through the uncertainty of COVID, and continued to believe in the dream we had built together.

Then life changed forever.

David was diagnosed with cancer, and after a courageous battle, he passed away.

Losing my husband was the hardest thing I've ever experienced. Along with losing the love of my life, I lost my business partner, my biggest supporter, and the person who had dreamed up Petrichor with me.

There were moments when I wasn't sure I could keep going.

But I also knew that the dream David and I created together deserved another chapter.

Today, Petrichor continues with the same heart and purpose we imagined from the very beginning. In 2026, we're proud to celebrate 10 years of serving our community—a milestone that reflects resilience, passion, and the incredible support of the people who have walked this journey with us.

As I lead Petrichor into its next chapter, my promise is to honour what David and I built together while continuing to grow, evolve, and create a place where everyone feels welcome.
